First Alarm at Sonesta Suite

At 22:02 on Thursday night December 5, we were dispatched for an automatic fire alarm with a possible fire at the Sonesta Suites, 4225 Route 1. While Chief 240 was responding, he was advised that there were flames showing in a room. He requested that our back-up company (Kendall Park) be dispatched. Kingston Deputy Chief 250, Engine #4 (244) and Engine #5 (245) responded immediately. Upon the arrival of Chief 240, it was confirmed to be a working fire inside of room 412.

A request for a full First Alarm was made at 22:11. Engine #4 arrived, “hit” the hydrant and stretched 200 feet of 1.75” hose to attack the fire. Engine #5 (245) arrived and stretched 200 feet of 2.5” hose. Kendall Park Deputy Chief 230, Ladder 223 and Engine 221 arrived and laddered the building, assisted with checking for extension and made sure all hotel guests had been evacuated. Monmouth Junction Chief 200, Deputy Chief 210, Engine 204, Tower 201, and Support Unit 207 all responded and assisted with various fireground operations, including checking for extension. Kingston Rescue #2 (242) also responded. The fire was quickly knocked down and was confined to the room of origin. Crews remained on the scene for 2 hours.

South Brunswick Police were on scene and assisted with the evacuation. South Brunswick 3 EMS (A57) and Monmouth Junction First Aid (A56) provided rehab for the firefighters.
