2nd Alarm Apartment Fire on Hamilton Street in District #3

Crews from the Kingston Fire Department responded on a cover assignment to Community Station 25 while Franklin District #3 units operated at an Apartment Fire.

The fire at 725 Hamilton Street, was reported around 2:20 p.m and quickly went to two alarms. Crews operated for about 45 minutes before bringing the fire under control and spent an additional 90 minutes performing salvage and overhaul duties.

The displaced residents from the two affected apartments were assisted by the Red Cross with temporary shelter at a near-by hotel.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The Community (Sta. 25) and East Franklin (Sta. 27) Fire Companies from District #3 were assisted at the scene by the Somerset (56), Middlebush (44), Franklin Park (31), North Brunswick, and New Brunswick Fire Departments.

In addition to Kingston (39), crews from Griggstown (35) and Elizabeth Avenue (26) Fire Departments stood by at Station 25 providing protection for District #3.
